How we met Joule

Joule is a Japanese crypto-token, whose purpose is to help alleviate the problems bank users face, while modernising online investing, and transactions.

The problem

How could we create a radical solution that will represent the next step in online investing? This was the main problem we had to help Joule solve through the creation of a new seamless and intuitive user experience.

The challenge

We have always been excited about working on projects from all around the world! Especially on ones that are very far away from our cultural perspective. This is what made the challenge of creating a brand for a Japanese company like Joule such an enriching experience.

The solution

Our design team spent a large chunk of time on the research phase so that we could be sure that by the end of it we would be familiar with the target audience. The solution that came out of this research phase was to create a secure wallet to manage all transactions, an investment platform to manage your assets and a marketing website, which would help the Joule team to reach out to more people!

The process

As always, our design process started with very in-depth research on what competitors were doing right and how they positioned their crypto tokens on the market.

Based on our analysis we were able to get to a design direction that would help make the Joule brand recognisable to its target market.

After that, we moved on to translating the newly created brand guidelines into an intuitive and user friendly app!

Following examples

Having analysed the little we already had, our research had to be really thorough. We analysed the current market, our main competitors, and already well established cryptocurrencies, and investment platforms.

We wanted to establish a strong relation between past and present. This way we ensured that Joule is forever conected with culture. The symbol of the logo was inspired by the Japanese Wadōkaichin coins. It aims to symbolize finance, experience and trust.

Designing for trust 2.0

New platforms which services aren’t broadly known or used are pain in the asses for product designers. We understand how important is the brand and the UX to be trustful for users.

The colours were picked to represent modern finance, trust and integrity, and experience. We aimed to communicate those value, while also providing a modern and familiar feeling.

Making Joule modern and accessible to everyone was the key challenge when designing this platform. The representation of such fundamentally different kinds of tokens is our greatest achievement.
